A judge showed me how to find the growth plate in the front legs to determine whether or not the legs were done growing. There's a place on the outside of the elbow where you'll feel two ridges one over the other. When the ridges are gone the growth plates have moved into position and the dog is finished growing. At 7 monthes my Remi is done but Cricket, who is also 7 monthes, still has a ridge so will continue to grow. I sure hope it proves to be true, at 12 weeks she weighed 2lbs. 5 oz. and at 7 monthes she weighs 3 lbs. 10 oz. I need her to grow quite a bit in order to breed her. I'd like her to grow a bit before a show her as well. Breeder says she's a late bloomer like her mom. I sure hope so, I'd hate to have to rehome her. She's a real cutie! As far as growth goes, you just really never know until they're done.
