Happy Birthday! We had a one year old yorkie when we bought our second yorkie (she was 10 weeks old) and we were told that because of the age difference, they would do fine. This is mainly because the older dog will teach the younger dog how to "behave" (potty, eat, etc.) Also, there shouldn't be a dominance issue because again, the older dog will teach the puppy how to behave.
I've also heard that if you get the opposite sex dog, they get along better. Ours our both females and they get along great - so I guess it all depends on the dog.
