I do not believe it either. They would not sell the food in large quantitites if it was only good for 2 weeks. Opening should really not affect the shelf life anyway since the bags are not air tight. Natural preservatives do not last as long as the chemicals. There are trade offs for trying to be more natural. Still, most dry has a shel life of at least a year and the natural should only be a few months shorter according to this site:
