Don't feel bad. She was beautiful. and you did the right thing by taking her in in the first place.
we had a dog, Lindsey, when I was younger. She used to run away every single day. and every single day the dog catcher would take her to the pound, and my parents would have to pay $45 to get her out. Obviously, it got way too expensive. So one day they decided that she had to stay there because they just couldn't afford getting her out anymore, and there was absolutly no way to stop her from running. She wasn't put to sleep either, a family adopted her.
V - that picture is so sad.
and Camden is a HORRIBLE city. It's about 20-30 minutes away from me. We went there once for a class trip (to the aqarium) and just driving through I saw so many stray dogs it's unbelievable. Broke my heart.
