You are fortunate that you can depend on your dog to follow obediently. Mine comes when I call - if and when she wants to. I know if she were to decide to chase a cat, my calling would not stop her. But even with one that does mind, I would use a harness because if another dog was to jump on her, I could use the harness to pull her up into my arms and away from the dog.
