I have a 10 week old puppy and she pottys every 10 minutes unless she is sleeping! Well it seems like every 10 minutes. But I can get by with her pottying 3 times or so on the pad before I change it. As far as poop I pick it up with tissue and flush it as well.
I work at a hospital and our supply department sells Chux...which is the same as a wee wee pad for dogs but they are actually more absorbant. They come in large and small(size of standard wee wee pads) I get 10 pads for .98. If you know someone that works at your local hospital I would ask them if they have a supply department they may be able to get u that same deal on them.
At the price I pay I can stand to change them twice a day but if I were paying regular price I would say leave it down
