That might be a thought too. I know three people who have taken in rescues on their own and have found good homes for them.
If you do this, just make sure you have them vet checked so they don't bring any diseases with them that could make your dogs sick. After awhile word gets out and people will probably be bringing you all kinds of animals. One drawback would be if you can't find a home for them, they may be permanent residents at your house.
