Her coat may be matted, but don't give up immediately. You may be able to work the matts out if they aren't terribly bad by using some Johnson's Detangler for babies.
Spay by no later than six months. Ah, but they are tricksters and will pull and tug to get those rubber bands out.
We just use them occasionally. I've been lucky and haven't been the recipient of shredded pads, but just about everything else was shredded.
