Lost Yorkie-Happy Ending Hi! This is my first post, thought I would share a recent expierience with our Yorkie. Our baby girl, Pippa-10 month old Yorkie, got out of the house on May 24, 2005 when my daughter left for school and forgot to lock the door. The wind blew the door open and I'm sure little one took off like a bandit-thinking one of us would be right behind her to play chase. My husband came home an hour later to find her gone. We immediately mobilized the our friends and family and went everywhere looking for her. My two daughters and I were crying so hard we could hardly speak to anyone. I haven't felt as devastated since one of my family members died!! Anyway, we immediately made posters, went door to door, etc. We didn't find her that night. It thunderstormed that night and my girls and I worried and didn't sleep all night. Of course, I had contacted the animal shelter and first thing in the morning placed ads in all the papers. I went home after only an hour at work the next day because I couldn't stop crying about baby Pippa. I thought she was gone forever because she was so cute, and we live in a University neighborhood with lots of students. When I got home, the answering machine was blinking. It was a University professor who had found Pippa wandering around the English building that morning!! I hopped in my car and sped to the English building and there was my good samaritan holding Miss Pippa! I tried to give him a reward and he said, "I have 2 little dogs at home, and I hope someone would do the same for me". It restored my faith in people! What a good person!
Pippa is so happy to be home, and we have put a baby gate at the front door so she can't get out again! Who cares if we have to step over it-we have our baby back!! Who knew you could fall so deeply in love with an animal!! We like to say Pippa ran away to College for the day.
P.S. We had talked to so many people that we had several phone calls the next day of college students saying they had seen a "found Yorkie" poster the professor had placed in the English building. Seems everyone was helping us find Pippa! |
