Well, I'm no expert, but here's my experience:
In just a short time since we brought Bernie home, Bernie and Ginger have become "attached at the hip"! Ginger has always been a good girl, and never fussed when I left, but BERNIE just about has a heart attack. For the first couple of weeks, they were seperated (til I was sure how everyone was getting along) But I just started gating them all (I also have a 15 year old mix) in the kitchen when I leave, and I think they are ALL happier. Bernie's even reduced his fussing to a low whine!
Other benefits:
The two of them play all the time. Now when I'm doing work, cooking dinner, or visiting YT, instead of Ginger sitting at my feet fussing for me to play or snuggle, she and Bernie are at my feet rolling around or napping together. It was the best decision I ever made.
BTW, I think the fact that they are close in age is the ticket (she's two, he's one). We've always had two dogs, but there's always been a huge discrepancy in their ages. These two are just peas in a pod! |
