I think I would pay the 100.00 and have it done by someone who knows what they are doing. My son-n law installed Windows XP over a system with ME on it and had several drivers that needed to be reconfigured an dhe ended up paying someone to straighten it all out for him. Or have you tried talking to the computer teacher at the school where you bought it from to get the info to get into the program. Maybe they could reset it to factory specs for you with a recovery disc and then reload the XP program.
