Good luck with her. You are a wonderful person to have taken on someone elses problem.

I think in time she will adjust. Meanwhile you might try a larger area, like an X pen with her bed at one end, or the kitchen.

yes i would put paper or pee pads over the spot where she went, until she realizes that the paper is where she is supposed to go, then you can slowly move it to where you want it to be.

also I would not allow her the run of the entire house until you can trust her to use the paper. I'd keep her confined to the kitchen.
