My DH who has been very sick, now has two sore on his lips - I guess they are fever blisters.

I get them too and have just been through this, the only thing I found through the years is to hold a ice cube on them to help with the pain and also to take the fever and swelling down that really works for me. Put just a tad bit of Zinc ointment, will help to heal them quicker after doing the icing. Sometimes just the ice works. I also found when I get the shingles that the ice is what helps more than anything for the pain.
