Lots of people who have this type of 'lifestyle' aka work, own dogs. Myself included. I have two and they keep each other company while I'm at work. Mind you, my job is quite flexible so I don't work long days and often get to work from home. But I think if she puts research into it and devotes that month to training, she AND the puppy can be very happy.

It's not really fair to say that because you work or something you shouldn't have a dog. Sure if you work 12 hour days and have zero time for them then I might agree. But how else do you PAY for their needs? I'm not independently wealthy.. I have to work, and I'm pretty sure I'm not the only one.
