doggie day care A friend of mine is opening a doggie day care here in Oregon
He has asked me to help. Yesterday he and I went to several throughout the area. I was amazed how many large dogs were there.
One day care had 46 dogs on a regular basis and the monthly day care charge is about $500 (5 days a week). this day care was the largest total 3000 sq ft. Only one had a seperate small dog area and large dog area. Most small dogs were included in the large dog areas. Average day care was 1000 sq ft.
Only one did grooming and one had a u wash area. Only one had a small outdoor area. Grooming charge was average $28 plus $15 to clip the nails. At the u wash they charge $15 and up depending on how much shampoo you would use lol
All employees at one were red cross trained (what ever that means) others were young either college students or high school kids.
All but one had a huge retail area selling harnesses for $50 and up and dog bed pillows up to $400 yikes!
All give snacks and train your dog to sit and stay (if they didnt already know) if your baby is on a special diet you pack their daily lunch.
I was wondering what you all thought about doggie day care and if you would take your babies to one of these or do any of you already do it...I have some great ideas as what to add to this day care he is setting up and I will post it for your feed back once I get it all on paper.
I would love to here all your opinions whether you would take your baby to a day care and what would you look for when selecting one.
thank you
