This morning I was getting ready to leave for work and I heard Ferdinand smacking his lips on something. He had pulled a piece of RAW chicken out of the garbage can from dinner last night (my boyfriend put it in the garbage). I started freaking out because I had no idea how much he ate. He started gagging and out came this long strip of raw chicken. Assuming there was more in his belly and it could thinking it could seriously harm him, I mixed half hydrogen peroxide with half water and got him to drink it. I learned this mixture of doggy epicac (sp?) in his training class. Good thing we did this because there were two more large pieces of raw chicken that came up.
I felt so bad for him that we had to make him sick like that.

He knows better than to dig in the garbage can, but it's not his fault that there was raw chicken in there. Of course I had a little talk with my bf and told him NO MORE raw meat in the garbage.
Does anyone know what raw chicken would do to him? Especially after sitting out (in the garbage can) for 12 hours? I'm assuming dogs can get salmonella too, can't they?
