How can they have a copy of the check when they gave it back to you and marked VOID on the check and gave you a receipt for payment????? Please whatever you do, don't let loose of the original check to anyone and the receipt that is YOURS and you may need it later, this is my opinion. I haven't read all the rest of the posts, I am praying things work out for you and you don't have to give Maddie back that would be heart breaking. Please look into getting legal advice sometimes there are lawyers that will offer a free consultation for one time, that might be all it takes, and if need be go to another lawyer to get a second free consultation as 2nd opinions regardless who there from are always important, so it isn't unfair to get two free consulations from two different lawyers. Hopefully you won't need to do any of that and it will all work out for you and hubby and Maddie.
