Toy poodles. Our family had two over the years, Pompi and Cocoa. They are really the brightest dogs I've encountered, and such clowns! They are just terrific family pets and I recommend them to anyone. Contrary to the stereotype, they are not high-strung and yappy -- both of ours were very cool little dogs. I hate to admit it -- but our poodles were smarter than my little Yorkie is -- but that's OK -- I'm mad in love with my little "terror!" And what he may lack in brilliance he more than makes up for in looks, charm, sweetness, spunkiness and just plain snuggliness beyond compare!
