i'm no expert and have never bred dogs but a friend of mine breeds great danes. and one time, she decided she wanted another dane so she responded to an ad for someone that had rescued a male mantle dane who was neglected and the owners didn't want him anymore. he had papers and everything so my friend decided she would look into it. she already had a female mantle dane who she used to breed but had recently had her spayed. she wanted to know how the female would act around the new male so she took them for a play date. they were all over each other. she said it was like they knew each other their whole lives the way they played, cuddled, and just got along instantly. she decided to bring the pup home and keep him...and as she was looking at his papers and pedigree, she realized it was Lexi's pup. it was the coolest thing. I didn't believe it until I saw them together and they did have such a bond. lexi didn't bond with her other danes like that...in no way, shape, or form. she was very independent and this is what prompted her to have a play date with the new male...because she knew the other dogs would be fine but was worried about how lexi would act. so, with that being said, i believe they do have a bond. but that is just my opinion
