www.doggysteps.com has some inexpensive steps that are light and can be moved around easily from room to room. We got two of them, one for the couch and one for the bedroom.
I didn't see it on the Web site, but I got the 4-step version, which is a little taller.
I believe you can get something similar at Petco, Target and Wal-Mart.
