The Yorkie is ranked #2 this year in the US in popularity. As has in the past with dogs that gain popularity, it will change in time and the yorkie will no longer be #2 and will drop in demand by the general public.
You can be sure the Yorkie show breeder that has been around even 10 years ago breeding and showing, immersed in the breed and a fancier from the get go, when they weren't popular and certainly those doing this much longer than I have on to 30 and 40 years, are going to breathe a sigh of relief, pick up the pieces, help place the rescues that are no longer wanted, and do their occasional breeding, show the show quality, place in loving homes the pet quality.
Have you wondered about those that are just breeding for money and say they love the breed? They are going to get out of Yorkies faster than a New York minute on to the new hot ticket selling breed or mix. |
