I'm sure it is different in different areas of the country. And...it depends on the breeder. If your lucky you find a great one with beautiful dogs only looking for good homes for them for a fair price. I was lucky. My yorkie is 10 mos old, 3lbs and healthy and beautiful. I paid a very fair price for her no where near 2000. I wasn't even looking for a very small one. My first yorkie that died last year weighed 11 lbs and was the best friend ever. He was so far from the standard it wasn't even funny. He was a product of bad breeding. He has so many congenital problems, but we loved him. He died from those problems at only 7 years old. We were bargain hunting when we found him. He was cheap. However, I'm glad we got him and were able to love him for his short life.
