Default Adult wt? Growth stops when?

I recently got a Yorkie fem. for X-mas. Bottom line I was scammed, she is from a puppy mill. But slowly coming around. Learning to love her little butt. A friend has a lady at work who wants to sell her male. She is going through a divorce, thus working longer hours than normal. Stressed out, etc. I talked briefly with this lady today at work (she is going to call me back tonight at home). She stated she got the dog from a breeder in Iowa (went in person to get). He was 12 wks. old. He is now 5 mos. old and weighs a little over 3 lbs. Healthy, happy, and she believes AKC reg. but she just talked with the breeder last month as she hadn't rec'd the papers yet.

My question is this. I would like to some day breed my little female (a litter a year). Don't I want the stud to be really small? Also, how do I know what good points to look for. It does seem my little female is long (even though she is tiny). And, still, at 6 mos. has hardly any hair. I see pictures of such pretty Yorkies and that is def. not my female. Will that come later?
