I wonder if any of you lovely american ladies could help me please?
For Christmas, I was given three little books of knitting patterns for dog coats & jumpers that were all printed in America.
I'm longing to get started on making Tansy a new wardrobe, but am a bit stumped regarding the difference in yarn names between America & England.
I can knit tension squares to be sure before actually beginning, but not sure what to buy to start with to avoid wasting money. Does anyone know at all how the yarns like worsted weight,sport weight, heavy worsted weight, jumper/fingering weight,bulky, relate to how yarn is sold here.....double knitting, 3 or 4 ply, Aran, Chunky etc. please?
I would guess your Bulky would be our Aran or Chunky, but haven't a clue what worsted or fingering is.
