I had the exact problem with Buddy when he was younger.
What I did at that time was to keep a chew bone in the night stand
drawer and when he saw me waking up and started playing I reached
in the drawer and pulled out his chew bone. He layed down and chewed
and I went back to sleep! Today we both sleep until I GET UP!
