I can't say for sure that the food or shampoo stopped the itching, but we tried a bunch of different things and the itching subsided. Anyhow, we switched to Nutro. We mix a bag of Chicken Meal Rice & Oatmeal with a bag of Lamb Meal & Rice Small Bites.
The shampoo we recently switched, actually after the itching stopped. But our Petco groomer recommended Tomlyn Nova Pears Medicated Coal Tar Shampoo and the Mosturizing Cream Rinse by the same company.
In retrospect, if anything stopped the itching it was more frequent baths. I used to go 1-2 months between, now I go about 3 weeks.
