Are their tails wagging? That's another good indicator. When we introduced my little one to his new friend that we were going to have him stay with, the other dog, Riley, attacked my little guy and growled, snarled etc. It was pretty scary for me, but Rylie's tail was always wagging when he was "attacking" Ferdinand. We still never left them along together, but they were just playing.
