I have had 30 years of breeding experinces with mine and stud services. You sound like you bred her the correct time...I breed about 9 to 12 days for the first breeding after color has cleared and bitch is accepting. If the bitch accepts the male, she is ready, why your girl missed is what happens sometimes. You must have taken her to the vet for an eray which was wise...now you won't wait for pups and worry.
I like a 10, 12 and 14 day breeding for a first time bitch..after they are proven I usually breed 12 and 14. I find more miss because they are bred too early as too late. Remember the semen can live viable for up to a week.
Was the male proven and producing litters regularly.
