Thanks for the information. Emmie vomited with her first bout of tonsillitis a couple of years ago but this time she has not, however, she has had the "honking" sound which I think is similar to the collapsing trachea sound they make. She really only usually does it when she is excited, so I try to keep her as calm as possible. I think the vet is concerned about loading her up on antibiotics for this one bout of tonsillitis - it probably wouldn't be so bad for her if the tonsils only flared up a few times a year, but since this has been an ongoing problem for a couple of months now, and she has been on 2 different antibiotics, I think he is worried about messing up her system. I am in hopes that she doesn't have to have them out. I did finally have mine out when I was 24 after years and years and years of horrible throat infections, antibiotics injections and medications. So far, no problem with my immune system and I have been so much more healthy - the same with my boys - they had theirs out at about 2 years of age, after they had each had several bouts of it - but I agree, if you don't need them out, you shouldn't do it!!!! I felt of her throat area today and the nodes do seem to have gone done part way, so here's hoping!!!!! Thanks again!
