My yorkie girl gets tonsillitis about 2 times a year. She is 3 1/2 years old. My vet did not seem to think being on antibiotics a couple times a year was a problem. I am hesitant to have her tonsils removed because I do believe that each of our body parts has a purpose and the tonsils are important in the immune system. My vet can also see her tonsils stick out of the throat and I guess that if they are not infected they stay in their pockets and are not too visible. When Lulu is getting tonsilitis she vomits and coughs more than normal and I am just real good and seeing the warning signs and taking her in for medicine.
