I don't have much experience on taking a trip by myself (I envy you) but my single girlfriends do it all the time. If you just want some 'me' time, bring some books, sunblock and enjoy your self. If you want tours you can sign up for those when you get there. Don't accept drinks from strangers (my girlfriend who is a sherif, & single traveler said to tell you this, she just called while I am writing this)
