If you've had the heater or a fire in the fire place alot lately that can cause dry skin (which brings about flakes and/or itching). The vet may recommend a supplement (like omega oils or fish oils) and/or a special shampoo or conditioner ("cream rinse"). We're dealing with dry skin and itchies right now because of all the dry heat in the house.
