I'm still using Life's Abundance for my daughters 3 babies....her 2 chi's and the Shih-tzu. They're doing fine on it.
I had to switch to the disgusting Hill's Prescription Diet U/D food because Ralphie's stones are calcium oxalate, and it's actually made me sick to my stomach each time I feed him that awful smelly stuff. I called Hill's the other day and I asked the rep how healthy could their food be when the first 6 ingredients are total crap. He said I should stop reading the Internet and he said that the food is actually human grade chicken but by law it cannot be listed as such because the chicken is not purely 100% white meat. He said it absolutely does not contain feathers and bad stuff. I just find it hard to believe that it's really dog food! It looks like a jellied block of slime!
I expressed my concerns that the diet is very low protein and how could any dog exist on it for any length of time. He said my vet has to examine my baby's blood every 6 months from hereon in to make sure his levels are good. I just got some PH paper to test his urine daily. After feeding him so well for the past 5 years, I feel like I'm feeding him Wendy's or McDonald's.
