Brush the inside of your forearm with the brush using the same amount of pressure you used on your dog. Does it hurt and did it leave a rash? If so then yes you probably irritated your dogs skin with it. Brushes are not all created equal. A cheap brush has pins that are sharp and abrasive at the tips and can damage skin. The pins on better brushes are generally polished at the tips and much less likely to cause an abrasion.
I'm not sure how old your yorkie is but if he is a yorkie than most likely his fur will grow longer. Yorkie's coats grow indefinitely like humans.
