I'm so sorry that you and Remmie are at odds. I have a similar frustration here, too. My 25lb mix, Mozart is the sweetest, most adoring 12 y/o guy. But, he used to raid the trash a lot (before we started feeding RAW - me thinks he wasn't getting enough nutrition on the kibble), and when I would find him, I of course would pull him out, with teeth barred and him lashing out at me. He doesn't raid the trash anymore, but there are occasions when he will challenge me. Well, one canNOT have a 25lb dog in a disobedient mode! Watching Cesar, I've learned to take him down to the floor by his scruff, and HOLD him there, until all aggression is gone, and he is calm. If he growls at all, tighten the grip - not to injure, of course - just to let him know that's NOT the way to be released! When he's calm, he is released. And, yes...he MUST lick me afterward.
I agree, they are all different in temperament and should be handled accordingly. I must be careful with Miss Abbie, as I can break her heart just by speaking strongly.
And, here's a mystery: this same pooch is askeert of a 6lb yorkie!
