this is how maggie is. If I tell her no for something or if one of the other dogs gets onto her, she will lay on her back and put her ears back...the ears being back is how she shows she is being submissive. and when it is me correcting her, she will lick me afterward. i think someone said that was a form of apologizing...I agree. she definitely submits and apologizes. You def. have to show that you are the pack leader and spanking is not the way to do it. making them submit is. I completely agree. I think you should try this for a while before rehoming him. If you are only rehoming him because your hubby wants a dog, I think that is the wrong reason to rehome. if you are doing it because you can't control him, you need to find someone that can. but if it is a selfish reason like your husband wanting a dog, that's just wrong and completely unfair. he should consider the dogs you currently have to be his as well. to me, that would be like my husband wanting me to get rid of my daughter because she is not his and he wants one of his own. maybe that is a little more drastic but I consider my dogs to be a part of my family. anyway...i didn't mean to get this long winded, i just hope you can realize what needs to be done and give him a chance to change. My husbands dog was 10 years old when I came into the picture and he considers me the pack leader...even after being as old as he was. he totally respects me and i have been able to break all of his bad habits...barking, pottying in the house, eating other dogs food, etc. he is a great well behaved dog now. it can be done...put your wolf suit on and work really hard at establishing who is leading the pack in your house and you will reap the rewards.
