It is scary when they throw-up and yours certainly did throw up quite a bit. You did the right thing by taking him to the Doggy ER. I'm not sure about the vet not calling back as I've never had this problem...mine has always called back w/in an appropriate amount of time after I've called. I guess you just have to go with your instincts..you know your dog best. I'm assuming the Doggy ER is open 24/7? If so that's a comfort knowing that at any point if you decide to you can go. I think if they vomit once or twice you really don't need a vet call. If they continue to like your Joey did by all means call the vet. If they are going downhill quickly and you haven't heard from your vet then get him to the Doggy ER. Hope this helps and i'm so happy Joey is doing better.....Take Care
