Jaden was that way at first too, he was toally pad trained but I've found the litter boxes to be SO much easier and nicer!
I eventually got him to use the litter box by putting a pad over the litter (crayon shaped things) and got him used to going in there. Then I would cut down the pad with scissors little by little until there was just a tiny square left. Then I took that away and voila...he would just go on the litter.
