You want a breedable Yorkshire Terrier for $200 to breed to your $150 Yorkie? I know they are all so cute, and we think: why not breed them and get more cute dogs ..... but it is important to educate yourself about purebred dogs, breeding, and all that is entailed.

I had pie-in-the-sky dreams at one time too. I bought an inexpensive Yorkie (not as inexpensive as you are talking about -- but less than the going rate). I thought I wanted to get into breeding with her as my start. Luckily I researched first and found that the shelters and alleys are full of dogs allowed to breed by the uninformed. I was determined to NOT become part of that problem. Since my yorkie did not really meet all the standards and her pedigree led straight to a small-time puppy mill, I had her spayed. I still want to breed yorkies and have since purchased two that are high quality and appear to be meeting all the standards so far. I am still a long way from breeding, but am enjoying the learning process. If you are serious about wanting to breed Yorkies, start reading everything you can find on breeding specific to toy breeds. Don't compromise or dilute the Yorkshire Terrier gene pool. Make sure you don't contribute to the problems of poorly bred animals. This is no time to bargain shop!

You should also neuter that $150 male you have. He is cute as can be but NOT a suitable sire.
