I don't know about NY but here in the South I have to keep a good eye on my dogs during the summer so they do not get heat stroke. The fiirst sign of it is heavy panting, rapid heart rate, sign is slowness. I heard they will vomit if it is extreme but my dogs have never gotten that far.
If they get too over heated, I will wet them down to cool water(not ice). I make sure their belly and the area around the inner legs are wet(where their blood vessel runs).
I heard that major heat stroke can cause lasting damage(respiratory wise) but don't really know too much about it.
I hope this info helps |
