it takes time for new puppies to adjust and become comfortable enough to be alone in their environment.... when i got toby a week and a half ago, i couldnt leave his sight without him whineing (even if i was just on the other side of the bed, if he couldnt SEE me then he assumed he was alone) and that went for sleeping in his crate as well, he hated his crate because he was alone in there, so..... he started to sleep with my boyfriend and i, it took him this long to understand that we are always coming back to him and we would never leave him, so now (as of the last two nights or so) he PREFERS to sleep in his crate (this means NO MORE GETTING UP IN THE NIGHT TO GET HIM OFF THE BED ) I've had my FIRST uninterupted sleep in a week..... The thing that helped with toby's little "separation issues" was a place where he could just go and chill, it was a place that was his and no one elses (his crate) and now he prefers to sleep there as well.... the real thing that helped was TIME, he just needed to adjust, (as a side note: i think the breeder we got toby from didnt interact with him or socialize him well with people, so naturally he got love and attention from us and LATCHED on and wouldnt let go.. hence the separation issue..... hope it all works out, some people actually prefer their pets to sleep with them.... i think there was someone on here that had like four or five yorkies in bed with them
