Is he still doing it? I took Diamond to the vet when she was making these noises, of course she never did them at the vet's but the vet did feel her throat just by using her hands and she said it didn't feel like a collapsing trachea but who knows. I know she doesn't do it now.
He'll be 8 months old on Saturday. He started doing it around 3 months old also. But it seemed like he stopped for a while. Hopefully he'll stop around 9 months also - maybe it is reverse sneezing. I wish there were sound clips or something online so I could hear the difference.

I also used a collar with Ferdinand a few times before I knew any better. I'll never use one again - I don't even have one anymore. He seems to be doing better the last day or so. It was really bad for a few days. It was really cold here, so we've had the heat on in the house (we usually only turn the heat on in the house like one week out of the year, but we've had it on for the last 3 weeks) which makes it really dry, so I'm wondering if that has anything to do with it.
