Default Frankie started limping in the cold today

Frankie is a male yorkie, just about to turn 1.
he absolutely hates old snow, the cold hard stuff- fresh snow he doesnt mind, he actually runs around and plays in the stuff.

current weather: its been around 10 degrees F with about an inch on of hard snow the ground.

anyhow, for the last two days ive noticed after he walks in the snow for a minute or two he starts to limp- he holds his back right leg up in the air and hobbles around on 3. He doesnt make any noises but he gets this sad look on his face. I also never take him out for more than 6-7 minutes at a time in the cold.

do you think he has a medical issue that needs to be checked out?
could it just be that its getting kinda frozen and he doesnt want to touch it to the cold snow again?

Hes had regular vet visits, always a clean bill of health- once we get inside he runs around perfectly normally, jumps all over everything and seems as happy as can be.
