Well, we went to another vet yesterday and also to the specialist and had the echocardiogram done. Little Hoku does have a murmur and it is not a 'slight' one that will heal on it's own However, it may not get worse and she may be able to live a fairly normal life - the chances are 50/50 at this point. We will redo the echocardiogram when she is a year old and they will be able to tell from that if it is worsening or not.

The breeder is being very supportive and has signed paperwork stating that Hoku has a murmur and that because of that she will give me another puppy at or around the time that Hoku passes on.

I am determined to give Hoku the best life she can have, no matter how short it may be. She is still my 'bright star', perhaps more like a 'shooting star' but a star in my eyes nonetheless.

Thank you all for your kind words of encouragement and support. I have been so wrapped up in the initial shock that I haven't taken new pics but will do that soon
