Our vet does an ultrasound at 50 days. This past time she overshot it by 1 dog...apparently one moved during the process...but you could get a clear shot of how big they were and see little hearts beating.
Both Trixie's litters were 4 pups. The 2 Yorkie breeders I worked with never had under 3 or over 5 that I saw anyhow.
