I understand your point completely. How would you handle it if at around 10 weeks or so, you had 4 other people who DID want to put $$ up for a 'particular' puppy. Or even if you only had one person who had their heart set on one in particular? I just couldn't see telling anyone else interested that they would have to take what was left after this other person picked. If I was willing to put $$ down I would want to be able to pick the one I wanted, not just be assured to get one after 3 people picked first. Does that make sense?

For example, with this past litter, we had one boy who just seemed to be everyone's favorite. He was calmer and sweeter than the other two boys. Everyone that looked at the pups wanted him. One lady told me that she wanted to make her final decision closer to 12 weeks (which is fine) but that he was the only one she wanted to consider taking (also fine). However, I told her I would NOT hold him until that day IF someone else came along in the mean time who wanted him. As it turned out, someone did. I can't see where it would be fair to tell the man who chose him, 'well, you can come back in 12 weeks and IF Mary Sue doesn't want him, you can have him.'
