I had no problem taking a deposit when I had several males in a litter...chances were I would not be keeping more then one at any given time...I had a litter of 5 males once. A lady was pestering me to get one...she had lost several on other waiting lists..so I told her I would promise a pup..not sure which one, but out of 5 boys there was a 100% she would get one, unless they all died or were sick.....I kept one and finished him..3 were tinies and the other was a big boy..so I actually wind up with 4 to place...she took the biggest one...
What I do not like is promising a certain puppy...who knows until later if a pup is suitable for anyone...the smallest at birth may be the biggest..they change...what if one turns out to have a nicer coat or more outgoing then the others..I would not lock myself into a newborn..but would put a deposit down to pick one of my choice at 12 weeks.. |
