Mojito was strictly crate trained when we got him but we automatically switched him to pads around the apartment and he picked it up REALLY fast. For the first couple of weeks we also put a pad in his crate when it was bedtime but we soon realized that he refused to go in there. In fact, when I'd wake up in the morning and take him out of the crate he'd follow me to the bathroom and go at the same time that I did!!!
I won't say that there haven't been some "oops!" moments but he's been accident-free for about three weeks!
Now, if I could only get him to go outside when we're out and about then we'd have the perfectly trained pup! (We've actually been outside at a bbq and I finally broke down and put down a pad when I realized he refused to go and he peed and pooped on the pad!) Any suggestions, anyone? I'm not trying to train him to be an outdoor bathroom dog but I want to make sure he knows it's OK to go outside if he needs to... |
