I called the vet I found in the phonebook; he was about half asleep. He first began to tell me that 5 puppies was too much for her to have and then when I told him she had 2 more he was in disbelief. He said she should be fine till tommorow and then for us to come see him.
This did not convince me.
I called the Penn University Animal Hospital that Chrissy suggested; they were a lot more reassuring. She said that as long as Chyna was moving around (meaning not just laying down since it happened) and she's not bleeding that she should be fine. She said its very unlikely the milk is contaminated. She suggests we call the vet tommorow and see if he will look at her; to see how she wakes up. She is moving around though. I mean not long after she went outside for a couple minutes and then came back in and ate like nothing happened. There is no bleeding; I checked her a couple minutes ago. Is there blood in the afterbirth. I've never seen it. What's it look like? I think what came out after the last puppy was afterbirth but I'm squeemish and looked away as my mother was removing the dead puppy but my dog ended eating some of the puddle left behind. |
