I think that almost everywhere has ordinances or laws like that to some degree... Out where I'm at you have to licence your dogs, and the cost difference between a whole animal and a spayed or neutered animal is a HUGE difference, so much so that most owners will run right out and get theirs fixed! Cause its a licence that needs to be renewed and the fee needs to be paid each time its renewed! And 60 bucks is a heck of alot more than 7 dollars! And you are only allowed to have a certain number of dogs, I think its 3 in some areas and 4 in others. If you have more you must apply for a kennel license and you must ne zoned for it and if you don't live in the correct area or zone you don't have a hope in heck of getting one! And if you violate the number of dogs allowed you may have them ALL taken away from you! A litter of pups does not count unless they are over a certain age ... then they count as Dogs...

And if your caught with a dog of age without its Rabies, their is a Serious fine! and a recheck, if your caught again, you may have your dog removed from your home. Animal welfare laws are in place to protect the animals. We have wildlife around our desert and these dogs need the protection! Its up to us to give it to them, and its up to local Government to enforce the local laws put into place to ensure that we are doing our jobs! Because so many of us are NOT!

I love the law! Because I don't break it! Its there to protect me and the dogs I love so dearly! Because of the law, I can feel pretty safe knowing that the dogs at the dog park (located right across the street from the police dept) is full of vaccinated licenced dogs! Why??? Because the Animal Control Officer comes in and does random checks! I'm glad they do, cause my licenses are up to date and my vac's are up to date. You have to keep the Vac's on file with the city when you renew the license! I love it!!!!

Bring on the laws... As people find more and more ways to "Beat the system" And "scam" us or take advantage of us, innocent animals, children, elders, or anyone else, we will keep making new laws to stop it from happening!
